Am I the only one who hasn’t carved a pumpkin? Well, I have now, but it’s taken 22 years to do so. I got the assignment to carve the 100-year logo into a pumpkin so we could use it for our social media platforms. Carving a pumpkin seemed easy, I mean, kids can do it, right? I was completely wrong.
I teamed up with one of my fellow art friends Shedrick Wallace Turner Jr. a.k.a. Kido Whippington (Instagram: @KidWhip_) to take on the project. He designs and sketches sneakers so I knew he took balance, line control and proportions seriously.
We got the logo printed out and made it into a stencil. All we had to do now is carve it and light it up. Carving didn’t take near as long as I thought, because little did I know that pumpkins come 85% already hollowed out?
2-3 hours, 2 Chainz Pandora and a kitchen full of pumpkin guts later and there we had it.
It was totally new, fun and completely over due. I won’t exactly be adding pumpkin carving to my resume, but I had a blast doing it and look forward to seeing people’s pumpkins this Halloween!
You know where to find me,
