We’re all aware that it’s Black History Month, but maybe you haven’t had the chance to celebrate given your course load, job, internship, various club and activity meetings, life, and… you get the point. To make things a little easier for you I’m sharing Black Student Achievement‘s calendar of Black History Month events taking place on campus:


Hot Wings, Hot Topics!

Hot Wings Hot Topics

Hot Wings Hot Topics is a bi-weekly discussion for faculty, staff and students to engage in hot topic conversation. This two hour special edition of Hot Wings Hot Topics will have an extended menu. 

Black History Month 2017

Benjamin E. Mays Lecture – Noma LeMoine

The annual Benjamin E. Mays Lecture is intended to encourage the discussion of issues facing urban educational leaders, as well as honor the memory of Dr Mays and promote his philosophy of excellence in the education of those typically least well served by the larger society.

Metaphorically Speaking

This event will be a spoken word and performance showcase to celebrate Black History Month! Sponsored by the Multicultural Center. Spoken word and performances will be on the topics of black history, black culture and black liberation.


Pop Talks: Focus on Black Feminism

12:15 – 2 p.m.
Multicultural Center Lounge, Student Center East, Suite 206

Pop in for pot tarts, pop and pop culture! Pop Talks are informal weekly discussions (every Wednesday during the semester) about pop culture, national news, global events, hot button issues, social needs and/or anything related to multiculturalism, inclusion, diversity and/or justice. Students should bring their own lunch, something they want to discuss and a willingness to think about our world. The Multicultural Center will provide a facilitator, pop (sodas) and pop tarts!


Revolutionary Images: Graphic Novel Discussion of Black Panther
