Why dropping out is never an option!

Being college students, we all know how difficult school can be; especially when you have so many other extracurriculars going on. If you’re like me, then you’ve most likely had the struggle of deciding whether school is STILL the right choice for you.

If so, let me help you out with that decision by breaking down some of the reasons why I made the decision to stay.

1. Time

College is seen as a HUGE stepping stone, and it’s also seen as the next step to adulthood to most. It gives you that push you need to be on your own, while still giving you that support system from your parents or guardians. In other words, you still have time to change your mind, make mistakes, fall down and get back up…this is your time to figure things out.

2. Opportunities

College literally hands you so many opportunities when you do exactly what you’re supposed to do, such as working with the career center on your resume, going to office hours to speak with professors, and just simply connecting with people that are where you want to be on campus. You never know what will happen once you take the first step.

3. Back-up Plan

Your passion may be to become an actor, but having a bachelor’s or master’s degree to fall back on if your dream doesn’t work is much better than having nothing. A degree will always give you a leg up when applying for jobs.

4. The Support

Being in college allows you to meet people with same drive, passion, hustle, and determination as you have. Those are the friends that will look after you and support you when have your weak moments, because they truly understand. There’s no better feeling than being around people that understand who you are right now, partly because they are in a similar situation.

College goes beyond more than just getting an education. It’s one of the defining moments of discovering who you are, your possible career choice, and your path in life. While anything can happen at anytime, don’t lose hope and don’t give up easily. I know the work may get strenuous, frustrating, and tedious, but turn that aggravation into motivation, drive and determination. Don’t be afraid to do what you always dreamt of, and what’s a better time to do it than the time you have in college!

  1. I feel that the university should also be looking out and being aware of the problems that students have and by doing this through their teachers and professors network. my son was a student at GSU and he was one of the top of his class in his high school off the charts with his intelligence but has a learning disability that was never diagnosed in his senior year and then was not diagnosed in college. he also had problems with math and with language and couldnt pass due to this problem. he was very depressed and was very closed in. the university did not give him any help becsuse his professors did not give him any help. he was just another student in the pile therefore he had to drop out. he was too afraid to tell his family or to ask for help so now he lacks a semester but has not the courage to return and try to see if anyone will help him get funding so therefore there needs to be some type of intervention program designed for students like him so they may also Succeed .

  2. Sometimes dropping out is a huge success…
